Pinion Gears, scarce as hen's teeth; pg3

Where on this planet are planetary pinion gears?
Finally the tran is completely disassembled and most the parts showed only negligible wear, except the two shorter reverse pinion gears. Their bushing type bearings were worn badly, which explained the nasty sounds coming from the tran before. I sent off an Email to my parts supplier to inquire if the gears were available and asked what other parts were available for this tran. They replied that all the parts were available but the two gears that I needed were out of stock and on back order; a bit of bad luck. Well I still had 4 months left on my Fiji Visa so I decided to move Selena to the Copra Shed dock where I could hook up to the electricity and water; a bit of good luck, as this harbor is probably one of the few places in a thousand miles where life can be this pleasant. If I was going to be stuck here for awhile I might as well make life easy as possible for myself.

As it turned out it took nearly 4 months to get the back ordered gears, and all the parts I needed. As I had to reassemble the entire transmission, and all the parts could be obtained, I decided to replace the gears plus all the bearings, seals, and clutches. Selena now has a transmission that is virtually as good as new. The whole thing cost about US$ 850.oo, a far cry better than the suggestion from Westerbeke. Their engine has worked pretty well all these years but when I needed help I had to go elsewhere.
